Vanni Leung, Founder of Valani

1.  What inspired you to create your vegan, eco-friendly business?

Valani is really an extension of my vegan lifestyle… eco-friendly, plant based and full of compassion and respect for all things. I’ve been a vegan for 24 years, so it was really important to me that my brand reflects this lifestyle as well.  I started Valani to create awareness of plant based options and to show that sustainable fashion doesn’t need to be boxy and boring.  It can actually be fun and beautiful.

2.  Your website says, “We’re reimagining sustainable fashion for the next generation.” What are some of Valani’s eco-friendly practices?

Sustainability is an ongoing journey and we’re always going to be looking for innovative options.  So far, this is what we’re doing…

The fabrics that we use are vegan, plant based and biodegradable.

We’re currently using hemp, Tencel and banana fabrics.  Banana fabric is made from discarded banana tree stems.

We use a combination of recycled, recyclable and compostable packing materials.

Our patterns are strategically designed for low waste.  Fabric scraps are used for scrunchies, crafts or recycled.

We also plant 1 tree for every garment sold and donate 10% of our profits to environmental and animal charities.

3.  If you had to choose one garment to represent the mission and overall aesthetic of Valani, which one would it be and why?

Our Sokha dress in pink banana fabric is my favorite.  It’s definitely a statement piece and embraces feminine beauty.  The design is inspired by both nature and the female body – it’s light, flowy and curvy with a double layer ruffle neckline.

4.  What has been the biggest challenge and biggest reward you’ve experienced while creating your business?

The biggest challenge is balancing so many objectives.  There’s always so much to do!

Our brand is built on the concept of Lighter Living – lightening the impact on the planet and yourself. We have a FB group for women who are interested in sustainable living and also offer free monthly breathwork sessions within the community. Breathwork is a great way to practice self love and release the heavy emotions. When we take care of ourselves, we’re able to better take care of others.

It’s free to join – and no purchase is necessary. Sign up for our email list to get access to free breathwork sessions here.

The biggest reward so far is being able to connect with so many women and emphasizing the importance of compassion for all things and self love. I love guiding women through the wonders of breathwork. I believe in women lifting other women and breathwork is just one of the ways that I do it.

5.  What’s next for sustainable fashion and Valani?

We are working on some knit garments that are more ‘elevated basics with a feminine flair.’ These should be released for Spring 2021.

Thank you, Vanni, for creating stunning designs that are vegan and sustainable! Check out Valani’s website and give them a follow on Instagram for gorgeous photography, videos, product launches, and more!

Rainbowgrove Dreams New Vegan Clothing Line

Company: Rainbowgrove Dreams

Products:

Big Heart Go Vegan T-shirt

Peace Full Zip Hoodie

Welcome back!

I’m so excited to share this new vegan clothing line from Rainbowgrove Dreams! Vibrant colors, high-quality materials, and vegan graphics and quotes… these shirts will become one of your go-to pieces in your wardrobe!

Big Heart Go Vegan T-shirt features a gorgeous floral heart that simply says “go vegan.” I absolutely adore anything nature-inspired, and of course, if I my shirt can promote veganism, well that’s a win in my book!

The T-shirt itself is an excellent quality tri-blend (50% polyester/25% cotton/25% rayon) material that is soft and gets softer when you wash and dry it. I dry all of my clothes on low to minimize shrinking, but that’s not a problem because this T-shirt has some stretch to it and won’t lose its shape. It is definitely has a form-fitting cut, so the website recommends sizing up and even ordering up 2 sizes if you’d like a looser fit.

Next up, is the Peace Full Zip Hoodie! I pretty much wear hoodies all year round… just like in this picture (it was nearly 100 degrees!). In any case, I love throwing on something comfortable that I can wear with leggings. With cooler weather just around the corner, you can bet that I’ll be living in this!

This hoodie is the perfect length (it covered my butt) and also has some stretch. This isn’t your typical shapeless hoodie, it will hug your curves and make you look much more polished and put together than the hoodie you stole from your ex-boyfriend.

The image on the back of this hoodie is so unique! It features the tree of life with a circle of flowers and animals around it. I absolutely love the green and purple colors that pop off of the light gray material. I love this so much!

The Bottom Line

Rainbowgrove Dreams offer vegan and nature inspired clothing, accessories, home decor, and art that you can’t find anywhere else! Their new clothing line includes designs that are so cute and unique, I can’t wait to order them all (seriously, I love every single one). The quality is fantastic, and these pieces are a must-have for every vegan that wears clothes!

Head on over to their website to see their entire line! Let me know which one is your favorite!
