The stuff that Cupid dips his arrows in (because sometimes fate needs an assist) – Detox and Hydrating Spray for Hair/Body (4.2 fl.oz.) $18.00 USD

Review:

I am very thankful for all of the bath and body products that I get to review (it’s an awesome hobby!). Every so often a fresh and innovative company comes along that reignites my love of vegan and cruelty-free products. Not Soap Radio is one of those companies!

Their products are made with essential oils, botanicals, and herbal extracts that actually take care of your skin (Bath and Body Works, who?). Their bottles are made of recycled plastic and they practice the “farm to bottle” approach to use local ingredients to lessen their carbon footprint.

Their products are truly eye-catching with their bright colors, fun names, and hilarious descriptions! When you look at their website, you will want to try everything!

I tried their “The stuff that Cupid dips his arrows in (because sometimes fate needs an assist) – Detox and Hydrating Spray for Hair/Body”. Told ya the names of the products were fun! This Blackberry and Vanilla scented spray can be used all over the body, including your hair. This fragrance is bright and sweet like freshly picked berries. Feeling a little tired? This spray has a refreshing and energizing kick thanks to Peppermint and Ginseng extracts. It also contains Argan oil, which makes this a hydrating spray for both hair and body.

On the skin, the fragrance is light and sweet and is suitable for any occasion. You will smell hints of it throughout the day and you’ll think “Damn, I smell good!” which is always nice. I found the fragrance to be a little bit stronger when used in the hair. I liked using this as a hair fragrance most of all since that is how it was most noticeable to me. Who doesn’t want hair that smells fabulous?

These sprays can also be used as room or linen sprays. How cool is that? I love multi-functional products!

The Bottom Line

Not Soap Radio is a company that creates fun and exciting products that are animal and environmentally friendly. Their use of natural, locally-sourced ingredients puts them miles ahead of other, not so socially responsible companies.

Using their products is a genuinely enjoyable experience, thanks to their creative names, vibrant colors and fantastic scents. I am so thrilled to have tried their products and to share them with you! I highly recommend them!

Thank you, Not Soap Radio, for sending me this fragrance to review!

Alpine Rose Luxury Face Serum 60ml $20.79

Canadian Glacial Clay Detoxifying Mask 60g $12.47

Reviews:

The Alpine Rose Luxury Face Serum is made to hydrate and nourish your skin while reducing and preventing fine lines. The star ingredients of this powerhouse serum are rosehip oil, pomegranate oil, grape seed oil, carrot tissue oil, borage oil, neroli oil, chamomile oil, rosehip seed oil, essential oils, and argan oil.

I used this serum as part of my bedtime skincare routine. I only needed 1 pump of the product to cover my neck and to have a little left over for my chest (I put it where the sun hits… gotta help that skin too!). This serum is a light oil and is easily massaged into the skin. I definitely think that it is better for night time use because you can feel it on top of your skin initially. That's not a bad thing because you wake up to moisturized and calmed skin!

This serum reduced the redness in my cheeks and has made my skin softer, for sure. I have dry, sensitive skin with occasional breakouts (I'll get to that in a minute!) and I am trying to use more anti-aging products. I have the slightest fine lines around my eyes and mouth, so I need those to get out of here and fast! Rosehip Oil and Carrot Seed Oil are known to help with collagen production and reducing signs of aging, so I will definitely continue to use this product!

To make this even better, Pistil & Bark donates 10% of proceeds from this product to the "Canadian Women's Foundation – Empower Girls program, which is dedicated to inspiring confidence in at-risk Canadian girls through science and technology, sports and leadership skills." How awesome is that?

Next, I'd love to talk about the Canadian Glacial Clay Detoxifying Mask! This product is fragrance-free and the ingredient list includes activated charcoal, Canadian glacial clay, papaya extract, guava extract, strawberry extract, and aloe vera extract. We've all seen those charcoal masks and teeth whiteners on social media, and I was so excited to try this one out! I have no idea what those other masks have in them, but this list of ingredients purifies your skin with activated charcoal and Canadian glacial clay while providing vitamins and minerals from fruit extracts along with moisture from aloe vera.

Since this mask is a dry, pitch black powder, it is best to mix a small amount of product in a small cup or bowl and add the desired amount of liquid to it (I used water). I also suggest that you use a washcloth to remove it once it is completely dry on your face, or just jump into the shower. Inevitably, you will get some of the mask on your countertop or sink, but it is easily wiped away.

So, how did it work? Man… I love this mask! My skin is dry and has clogged pores. They usually don't turn into breakouts, they just hang out under the skin making it look textured and unpleasant. I was really hoping that this mask would help with that, and I am happy to report that it did! My skin is looking smoother and this mask also made it much easier to extract my clogged pores after using it. I also tried this as a spot treatment and it really helped!

Also, "10% of proceeds from this product will be donated to Wildlife Preservation Canada – a non-profit organization that saves critically endangered species by breeding and releasing and building numbers when habitat protection alone is not enough." AH-MAZ-ING!

The Bottom Line

Pistil & Bark is a new company that creates vegan, cruelty-free, naturally effective products with a purpose! They work fabulously on their own, but I highly recommend that you try them out together! The packaging is beautiful and the prices are great for the quality ingredients that are in these products. My skin looks more radiant, smoother, and healthier. I really think these products are fantastic. On top of getting beautiful skin, you also get to feel great that a portion of your purchase will help animals or people in need!

November’s Treasure Hunt

Here are the best vegan treasures I found in November! These were GOOOOD!!!

If you have a Whole Foods near you, their “chicken-fried tofu” is absolutely delicious.  Firm tofu covered in savory batter and fried until it’s an absolute miracle.  Try it!

Next up, is Follow Your Heart High Omega Bleu Cheese Dressing.  Creamy, with a mild flavor reminiscent of traditional blue cheese dressing, I can’t get enough of this stuff! I love it with the tofu I just mentioned. Soo good!

For your sweet tooth, try out BarkTHINS Dark Chocolate Pretzel Snacking Chocolate.  Smooth dark chocolate with salty pretzels and sea salt…  Freakin’ phenomenal!

Next up is something I’ve been searching for FOREVER! It’s Eat Pastry Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.  I found it at Whole Foods next to the milk alternatives, and damn, I’m glad I did!  It’s raw cookie dough that you can eat and not get sick… And it’s pretty amazing.  I ate most of it right from the container, but I tried baking it too.  The cookies came out just fine… not too sweet or gritty, but there’s just something about eating raw cookie dough that’s really fun.

Last up, is Kite Hill’s Pumpkin Cheesecake Tart.  For $12, I was on the fence about buying this, but I couldn’t resist.  This baby has a gingerbread-y crust, smooth and sweet pumpkin filling, and swirls of creamy cheesecake that will knock your mittens off! This stuff is magic fo’ realz.

That does it for November’s treasure hunt!  What vegan treasures did you find?
