SAN FRANCISCO (Oct 2, 2018) – Three brave animal activists will be branded with burning hot irons in San Francisco’s UN Plaza to expose the plight of 150 billion animals who are painfully mutilated and killed for food every year. The branding is being held on World Day for Farmed Animals and hosted by In Defense of Animals, a charity that has been fighting for animals for 30-years from its Bay Area headquarters.
What: Humans Branded in Solidarity With Farmed Animals
When: World Farmed Animals Day, Tuesday, October 2, 2018, 12pm – 1pm
Who: San Francisco animal activists, In Defense of Animals
Where: Civic Center/UN Plaza Station

Calf 269 was born on an Israeli dairy farm and rescued by activists just days before he was to be slaughtered. Animal activists around the world now brand the numbers 269 into their own skin to stand in solidarity with the rescued calf and billions of nameless animal victims of the food industry.
This event is part of a peaceful international protest movement to raise awareness of farmed animal suffering and to build compassion for animals.
Don’t miss out on this unique, once-in-a-lifetime event!
In Defense of Animals is an international animal protection organization with over 250,000 supporters and a 30-year history of fighting for animals, people, and the environment through education, campaigns, and hands-on rescue facilities in India, Africa, and rural Mississippi. www.idausa.org
Company: Rainbowgrove Dreams
I’m so excited to share this new vegan clothing line from Rainbowgrove Dreams! Vibrant colors, high-quality materials, and vegan graphics and quotes… these shirts will become one of your go-to pieces in your wardrobe!
Big Heart Go Vegan T-shirt features a gorgeous floral heart that simply says “go vegan.” I absolutely adore anything nature-inspired, and of course, if I my shirt can promote veganism, well that’s a win in my book!
The T-shirt itself is an excellent quality tri-blend (50% polyester/25% cotton/25% rayon) material that is soft and gets softer when you wash and dry it. I dry all of my clothes on low to minimize shrinking, but that’s not a problem because this T-shirt has some stretch to it and won’t lose its shape. It is definitely has a form-fitting cut, so the website recommends sizing up and even ordering up 2 sizes if you’d like a looser fit.
Next up, is the Peace Full Zip Hoodie! I pretty much wear hoodies all year round… just like in this picture (it was nearly 100 degrees!). In any case, I love throwing on something comfortable that I can wear with leggings. With cooler weather just around the corner, you can bet that I’ll be living in this!
This hoodie is the perfect length (it covered my butt) and also has some stretch. This isn’t your typical shapeless hoodie, it will hug your curves and make you look much more polished and put together than the hoodie you stole from your ex-boyfriend.
The image on the back of this hoodie is so unique! It features the tree of life with a circle of flowers and animals around it. I absolutely love the green and purple colors that pop off of the light gray material. I love this so much!
The Bottom Line
Rainbowgrove Dreams offer vegan and nature inspired clothing, accessories, home decor, and art that you can’t find anywhere else! Their new clothing line includes designs that are so cute and unique, I can’t wait to order them all (seriously, I love every single one). The quality is fantastic, and these pieces are a must-have for every vegan that wears clothes!
Head on over to their website to see their entire line! Let me know which one is your favorite!

This Mother’s Day, I ask you to not only think about your own mom, but to think of all the mom’s on this planet that love their children. Whether you’re taking your mom out to brunch, you haven’t seen your mom in awhile, or even if they are no longer living, there is most certainly and undeniably a natural bond between mothers and their babies.
This Mother’s Day, consider the grieving diary cow that had her calf stolen from her only moments after given birth. Think of the mother goat that was slaughtered for meat and didn’t get to see her babies grow up. Think of the mother sheep that witnesses her children’s wool being ripped from their skin… the mother pig that watches her piglets waste away in filthy cages or get smashed against concrete for being “too small.” Think of the baby chickens that will miss out on a life with their mom and are ground up alive only seconds after being born.
All Mother’s love their children. All beings want and deserve to be loved. A cow, a pig, a chicken, a deer… they are no different than us.
This Mother’s Day, please open your heart and mind and consider going vegan. Feel free to check out my Instagram @VeganTreasureHunter or send me an email at Vegantreasurehunter@gmail.com if you’d like some help! You can also check out my Resources page to learn more!
Company: Laurmé Skin Care
I’ll just leave a 2 word review, ok? Ok.
Just kidding. You all know that I review a lot of skin care products. A LOT. When reviewing products, I look for a few key characteristics. Does it contain high quality, natural, good-for-your-skin ingredients? Is it easy and pleasant to use? Does it deliver results? Is it reasonably priced? And of course, is it vegan and cruelty-free?
I can say with confidence that Laurmé Skin Care checks all of the boxes of a fantastic skin care line. I truly enjoyed and looked forward to using them because I knew my skin would look better when I did!
Alright, let’s jump right in!
The first product that I used was the Vitamin C Brightening Serum. I was excited to try this out because my pale skin has the tendency to look dull, especially during the cold winter months. This serum contains Certified Organic Bulgarian Rose water to help calm and soothe the skin, along with Organic Aloe, Shea Butter and Sunflower Seed oil to soften and smooth. It brightens skin while fighting the signs of aging and provides hydration.
I used this serum in the mornings under my make up in place of a moisturizer. 2-3 pumps was all I needed for my face and it completely absorbed within minutes, which is perfect for people that don’t want to wait 10-15 minutes for their moisturizer to soak in before applying make up. This serum made my skin silky smooth to the touch and made my foundation glide on effortlessly. It definitely gives your skin a brightening effect, so I liked to wear this without make up, as well. It has a subtle citrusy scent that I really like and love that it actually delivers on its promises. My skin look radiant and healthy after using this, and I adore it!
Next, is the Intense Rejuvenation Serum that I used every night. Since your skin cells renew themselves as you sleep, it is important to use a powerful serum or treatment before you get some zzz’s if you want to wake up to beautiful skin. This serum contains Bulgarian organic rose water and organic lavender to soothe and calm delicate skin, while providing intense hydration. Powerful Anti-oxidant Vitamins A, C & E renew and brighten skin tone, Sodium Hyaluronate provides intense hydration & nourishment, and
Tamanu oil hydrates dry skin.
This serum is a good alternative for people with sensitive skin and could easily be used during the day as a moisturizer, I just chose to use it at night. Like the Vitamin C Brightening serum, my skin instantly drank this serum up! Within seconds, this serum was completely absorbed and my face was noticeably plumped and hydrated, with a nice healthy glow. Two thumbs up!
Last, is the Ultra Hydrating Facial Cream which I used on top of the Intense Rejuvenation Serum. This cream is thick, yet like the other products, absorbs into the skin incredibly quickly, leaving your skin looking hydrated, plump, healthy, and radiant! If you suffer from dry skin, this cream is for you! In fact, this facial cream was formulated to address extremely dry and sensitive skin that did not benefit from other products that were on the market. When you use this facial cream, you won’t even look you have dry skin! It’s true!
What makes this cream so powerful? “Anti-aging powerhouses DMAE & MSM team up with the tropical potency of organic aloe, coconut, and jojoba oils for dramatically rejuvenated skin.” Glycerin provides hydration & nourishment, Organic White Willow Bark smooths out rough, dull and tired skin and Organic Neem Seed oil nourishes dehydrated skin.
I absolutely love this moisturizer! It makes your face look dewy, smooth, and healthy and is now part of my everyday skin care routine!
The Bottom Line
Laurmé Skin Care is a winner! The products are carefully formulated to address the needs of dry, sensitive, and/or aging skin and absolutely deliver results. Individually, these products make my skin look more hydrated and healthy. When used together, my skin looks absolutely radiant, soft, moisturized, and just looks well-cared for! I am a HUGE fan of this line and I am so thankful for having the opportunity to try out these products. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone that thinks that there are no products that will improve their dry, sensitive or aging skin. I’m telling ya, Laurmé Skin Care has products to help you!
Head on over to their website to check out all of the products available and let me know what you think! Thank you, Laurmé Skin Care for sending me these products to review!

Vegan Police Shop creates adorable clothing and accessories that proudly spread the vegan message!
Their “Ferocious Vegan” T-shirt was the first vegan shirt I ever bought and I still love it to this day! It comes in Men’s and Women’s sizes and it is the perfect gift for any vegan on your shopping list!
The Vegan Tote bag is large multipurpose accessory for vegans on the go! It is great as a gym bag, school bag, beach bag… or just anywhere you want to promote veganism and your love of animals! It’s made of a soft cotton material and you can choose the color of ink that you want! *The style pictured above is not currently in their shop, but the “I Don’t Eat Pals” design is!
The No Animals Harmed Recycled Cotton Lunch Bag is AWESOME! It says “No Animals Were Harmed In The Making Of This Lunch.” You’re vegan and doing great things for the animals and the planet… You should give yourself a little pat on the back every now and then! This drawstring lunch bag is the perfect way to do that! This bag is soft and has more than enough room to bring some veggies and an entire container of hummus for lunch, along with other stereotypical vegan lunch items! It has a drawstring and velcro at the top to make sure all of your snacks stay secure. I love this bag so much!
And… Who doesn’t like buttons? Stick these on you backpacks, scarves, shirts… you name it! So cute!
The Bottom Line
I highly recommend these items from Vegan Police Shop! They’re high quality, freakin’ adorable and make the perfect gifts for the holiday! Head on over to their shop to see all of the fun designs that they have for sale!
Company: Maxine’s Heavenly Cookies
Review: Pumpkin here, pumpkin there… PUMPKIN EVERYWHERE! Its the time of year that you can’t walk into a store without seeing TONS of pumpkin products! From pumpkin spice lattes to candles to chapsticks… pumpkin definitely rules the holidays!
If you’re familiar with Maxine’s Heavenly Cookies, you know that they are super healthy yet somehow taste fantastic! They’re gluten-free, soy free, sweetened with coconut sugar, and of course they’re vegan! Check out my review of their other delicious flavors here.
So… back to these Pumpkin Pecan Spice cookies!
To put it simply, they’re outstanding. The texture is soft and chewy thanks to gluten-free oats. I’m happy to announce that the flavor tastes like actual pumpkin and not that crazy sweet artificial flavoring that you’ll find in most pumpkin flavored products. To top it all off, nutmeg and cinnamon really make these cookies taste like pumpkin pie and the pecans give them a nice nutty flavor and crunch.
The Bottom Line
Maxine’s Heavenly Cookies are wonderful, healthy snacks that can be enjoyed by everyone. They’re bursting with flavor and these Pumpkin Pecan Spice cookies really put me in the holiday spirit! These are sure to please vegans and non-vegans alike!
This holiday season, put these cookies out with a glass of almond milk for Saint Nick, give them to someone that loves healthy, flavorful snacks, or bring them with you to a party to share with your family and friends!
Chili is the perfect meal to make when the weather starts getting cooler and you want something healthy! Check out this recipe below from Deborah, the fantastic creator of Vegan Kitchen Magick! I am really excited to be sharing my favorite chili recipe with Julie here at The Vegan Treasure Hunter! I love her product reviews so was thrilled when she asked me to write a guest post!
My grandpa loved chili, and we ate it a lot when I was a kid. He always kept cans of chili in the pantry to heat up for a quick snack or meal. Homemade chili is so much better than anything from a can, though, and it is really easy to make! This recipe makes a big batch of 14 bowls. You can cut it in half if you want to, but the chili freezes beautifully and it is so handy to have for quick meals when you don’t have time to cook. I divide the chili into portions and freeze them individually, and I always think of my grandpa when I heat up a bowl! Here are the ingredients you will need to make your own:
Vegan Kitchen Magick Chili Recipe
- 2 15.5 oz cans Pinto Beans
- 2 15.5 oz cans Black Beans
- 2 15.5 oz cans Kidney Beans
- 1 28 oz can Crushed Tomatoes
- 1 28 oz can Diced Tomatoes
- 480 g (2 c) Chunky Salsa
- 65 g (3 TBS) Molasses
- 42 g (3 TBS packed) Vegan Brown Sugar
- 8.4 g (1 1/2 TBS) Cocoa Powder
- 360 g (1 1/2 c) Water
- 28 g (2 TBS) Oil
- 360 g (3 c) Chopped Onion
- 270 g (3 c) Grated Carrot
- 180 g (1 1/2 c) Chopped Celery
- 120 g (1 c) Chopped Green Bell Pepper
- 24 g (2 TBS) Magickal Seasoning Blend
- 35 g (2 TBS) Roasted Garlic
- 36 g (4 TBS) Taco Seasoning
- 1 13.7 oz bag Gardein Beefless Ground
- 1 12 oz package Trader Joe’s Soy Chorizo
1. Open all of the cans, but do not drain them. Add the tomatoes and beans (including the liquid) to a large soup pot. Add the salsa and stir to combine. Cover the pot, and start heating it over medium heat. Stir every five to ten minutes.
2. Whisk the molasses, vegan brown sugar, and cocoa together with the water. Set the mixture aside for now.
3. Cook your vegetables while the tomato and bean mixture is heating up. Heat the oil in a large pan, then add the onion, carrot, celery, and bell pepper. Toss to coat with the oil, then stir in the Magickal Seasoning Blend and cook for ten minutes.
4. Mash the roasted garlic, then stir it into the vegetables along with the taco seasoning. Cook for three more minutes.
5. Add the reserved liquid and loosen any bits that are stuck to the bottom of your pan. Mix together and cook for three more minutes.
6. Add the vegetable mixture to the pot with the tomatoes and beans. Stir well. Cover the pot again, and bring the chili to a boil, stirring every five to ten minutes. (It should boil pretty quickly so you may not need to worry about stirring during this step.) Once it is boiling, reduce the heat and put the lid back on a bit offset. Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring every 15.
7. While the chili is coming to a boil, prepare the Gardein beefless ground and Trader Joe’s Soy Chorizo. If you cannot find these brands, substitute another minced faux meat product. (You can also leave them out and add two cans of chili beans instead.) Add the beefless ground and the Soy Chorizo to the pan in which you cooked the vegetables. Cook together for several minutes, then set the mixture aside to cool. Do not add it to the chili yet, or it will get mushy.
8. After the chili has been simmering for 45 minutes, add the prepared “meat” mixture (or two cans of chili beans) and stir to combine. Cover the pot again with the lid offset. Simmer for an additional 15 minutes. Your chili is done and ready to serve!
