SAN FRANCISCO (Oct 2, 2018) – Three brave animal activists will be branded with burning hot irons in San Francisco’s UN Plaza to expose the plight of 150 billion animals who are painfully mutilated and killed for food every year. It will be the first time a live human-branding protest has ever been attempted in California. The branding is being held on World Day for Farmed Animals and hosted by In Defense of Animals, a charity that has been fighting for animals for 30-years from its Bay Area headquarters.

What: Humans Branded in Solidarity With Farmed Animals

When: World Farmed Animals Day, Tuesday, October 2, 2018, 12pm – 1pm

Who: San Francisco animal activists, In Defense of Animals

Where: Civic Center/UN Plaza Station

Calf 269 was born on an Israeli dairy farm and rescued by activists just days before he was to be slaughtered. Animal activists around the world now brand the numbers 269 into their own skin to stand in solidarity with the rescued calf and billions of nameless animal victims of the food industry.

This event is part of a peaceful international protest movement to raise awareness of farmed animal suffering and to build compassion for animals.

Don’t miss out on this unique, once-in-a-lifetime event!

In Defense of Animals is an international animal protection organization with over 250,000 supporters and a 30-year history of fighting for animals, people, and the environment through education, campaigns, and hands-on rescue facilities in India, Africa, and rural Mississippi. www.idausa.org

Happy Mother’s Day to All!

This Mother’s Day, I ask you to not only think about your own mom, but to think of all the mom’s on this planet that love their children. Whether you’re taking your mom out to brunch, you haven’t seen your mom in awhile, or even if they are no longer living, there is most certainly and undeniably a natural bond between mothers and their babies.

This Mother’s Day, consider the grieving diary cow that had her calf stolen from her only moments after given birth. Think of the mother goat that was slaughtered for meat and didn’t get to see her babies grow up. Think of the mother sheep that witnesses her children’s wool being ripped from their skin… the mother pig that watches her piglets waste away in filthy cages or get smashed against concrete for being “too small.” Think of the baby chickens that will miss out on a life with their mom and are ground up alive only seconds after being born.

All Mother’s love their children. All beings want and deserve to be loved. A cow, a pig, a chicken, a deer… they are no different than us.

California has passed The Pet Rescue and Adoption Act, which requires pet stores to exclusively sell rescue animals! Way to go, California!

This is a huge win for animals! With the amount of animal surrenders, homeless pets and euthanization rates on the rise, California has passed bill 485 which will ban the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits from puppy mills, kitten factories, and mass breeding operations.

All animals sold in pet shops must come from animal shelters, rescues, or adoption centers! This will greatly reduce the amount of animals in shelters and increase adoptions significantly! This change will take place by January 2019.

Congratulations, California! Which state will be next?
