(The Good and The Bad) Vegan Pizza in Johnson City, Tennessee!

Hello, Veganeers! It’s been awhile since I posted any restaurant reviews… but here I am, back at it to share the good and the (very) bad vegan pizza in Johnson City, Tennessee!

First up, is Scratch Brick Oven Foodworks. This place had great reviews and was even rated the #2 pizza place in Johnson City on TripAdvisor… so, I was really excited to try it out!

The atmosphere of Scratch takes the term “dive” to brand new heights (well, lows in this case). Now, if you’ve never been to the South, the whole “shabby chic”, old, historic looking aesthetic is pretty much the overarching theme. It is unassuming, not pretentious in any way, laid back… it is something I have come to love. Yet, this place looked like an abandoned garage a college band would practice in… maybe that’s why the staff and clientele were all college-aged.

The menus were probably the most confusing part of this place. There were 4, 5, maybe even 6 different color-coded menus at the pizza counter… I believe each menu was for a different size and/or pizza crust, but I’m still not sure. After trying to get the attention of one of the multiple guys behind the counter with no success, I grabbed one of the menus, circled the toppings I wanted, and wrote “NO CHEESE” in big letters (unfortunately, there were no vegan cheese options). I handed my menu to the guy behind the counter, and reiterated the fact that I did not want cheese.

Now, let’s go over the actual food I received. Evidently, the pizza I ordered via the mysterious menu was a small, paper-thin crust that was burnt to resemble a lump of coal. Thankfully, they didn’t put cheese on the freakin’ pizza (I only had to write it AND confirm it with the pizza maker), the veggies were decent, and the tomato sauce had a nice, zesty flavor. Unfortunately, the bitter, burnt taste was overpowering and I was still hungry after I ate it because it was literally a few veggies on a burnt-to-a-crisp cracker.

Needless to say, I wasn’t impressed in any way and won’t return to good ol’ Scratch anytime soon. Especially, with an OUTSTANDING pizza place a few miles away.

Like I said, I was still hungry and I still wanted some good vegan pizza!!! So, I made my way to Main Street Pizza Company (rated #1 on TripAdvisor). Honestly, just put your phone away or close your laptop right now and just go there.

I loved everything about the place. Its a classy, clean, casual restaurant/bar with excellent service and great atmosphere. It was all decked out in holidays lights, and kept pretty dark inside since the entire restaurant has large windows that let in the light and views from cute little Johnson City.

So… let’s get to the food! I created my own pizza and selected various veggies and dairy-free Daiya cheese. The waiter was friendly, professional, and HE reiterated that I wanted dairy free cheese (yay!).

This pizza was SO good! The cheese was melted perfectly on top of a chewy, medium-thick crust. The tomato sauce had nice, neutral taste and the veggies were fresh and flavorful. This pizza was exactly what my happy, vegan tastebuds were hoping for. Main Street Pizza Company, you get 10 stars from me!

So, if you find yourself in Johnson City, Tennessee, now you know where to go for the best vegan pizza! Let me know if you go!

“HERBAL INFUSED SKINCARE: Raw beauty is possible with natural ingredients. Handmade so you can feel amazing, loved, and beautiful.”

Review:

I’m so excited to be back! While I was away, I tried out a fantastic products from a brand called Essance Organic Skincare! Their products are made in Portland, OR and honestly, their everything I want in my skincare products! They’re organic, vegan, cruelty-free, and full of beneficial plants and herbs!

I had the opportunity to try out a bunch of their products that are included in their Dragon’s Blood Starter Package. Don’t worry, Khalisi’s dragons weren’t harmed to make these products! They are named for the antioxidant rich and anti-inflammatory ingredients called Sangre de Drago (aka Dragon’s Blood).

Ok, let’s go!

First, the Dragon’s Blood Cleanser is great for all skin types and does a great job removing the day’s dirt, oil, and make up without drying your skin. Its thick, rich formula contains skin-loving ingredients including aloe vera, olive oil, papaya, rosehip seed oil, MSM, frankincense to not only cleanse, but to moisturize and fight signs of aging, dryness, and inflammation! This isn’t just a cleanser, it is a skin treatment in and of itself.

After cleansing, I spritzed on the Dragon’s Blood Toner. All you need to do is lightly mist this refreshing toner all over you face and let the orange blossum, peppermint, witch hazel, lavendar, frankincense, and Chaga mushroom balance and reinvigorate your skin in preparation for the products below!

To seal the benefits of the toner into your skin, immediately apply the Dragon’s Blood Cream. It easily glides onto the skin which quickly drank it up like a sponge, leaving my complexion looking dewy and ready for make up! This cream has the same plant-based ingredients as the cleanser to really give your skin the benefits of these fantastic ingredients.

At night after cleansing and toning, I used the Dragon’s Blood Serum which has the same fresh, herbal scent as the rest of the line. This product is more like a thick cream/serum hybrid, jam packed with Chaga mushroom, Rooisbos Tea, coconut oil, rose distallate, rosehip, argan oil, sea buckthorn, pomegranate, and carrot oil. This list of superstar ingredients moisturizes and supplies anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties as you sleep. Your skin really couldn’t ask for more!

If you’re looking for a great body moisturizer, their Passionfruit Lotion is great for everyday use to keep your skin healthy and hydrated. Like the rest of their products, it easily absorbs right into the skin. I love the light scent and the long list of all natural ingredients including aloe, jojoba, coconut oil, rose, and rooibos tea.

Last but not least, is the Passionfruit Lip balm! If I don’t have lip balm on, I really don’t feel my best! My lips dry out almost immediately (yesssss, mom, I drink plenty of water), so I’m always looking for a healthy, vegan and cruelty free lip product that moisturizes and doesn’t break the bank! I love this lip balm because it does everything a great lip balm should!

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for some serious skincare but want all natural, plantbased, and crueltyfree ingredients, Essance Skincare is for you! Each and every product contains all natural, nourishing ingredients that make your skin look healthy and glowing! I love how my skin looks! I only need a little concealer and I’m out the door! The redness is my cheeks is not as noticeable and my skin just looks radiant and cared for! Essance Skincare truly makes amazing products that are good for you, the environment and the animals!

Rainbowgrove Dreams New Vegan Clothing Line

Company: Rainbowgrove Dreams

Products:

Big Heart Go Vegan T-shirt

Peace Full Zip Hoodie

Welcome back!

I’m so excited to share this new vegan clothing line from Rainbowgrove Dreams! Vibrant colors, high-quality materials, and vegan graphics and quotes… these shirts will become one of your go-to pieces in your wardrobe!

Big Heart Go Vegan T-shirt features a gorgeous floral heart that simply says “go vegan.” I absolutely adore anything nature-inspired, and of course, if I my shirt can promote veganism, well that’s a win in my book!

The T-shirt itself is an excellent quality tri-blend (50% polyester/25% cotton/25% rayon) material that is soft and gets softer when you wash and dry it. I dry all of my clothes on low to minimize shrinking, but that’s not a problem because this T-shirt has some stretch to it and won’t lose its shape. It is definitely has a form-fitting cut, so the website recommends sizing up and even ordering up 2 sizes if you’d like a looser fit.

Next up, is the Peace Full Zip Hoodie! I pretty much wear hoodies all year round… just like in this picture (it was nearly 100 degrees!). In any case, I love throwing on something comfortable that I can wear with leggings. With cooler weather just around the corner, you can bet that I’ll be living in this!

This hoodie is the perfect length (it covered my butt) and also has some stretch. This isn’t your typical shapeless hoodie, it will hug your curves and make you look much more polished and put together than the hoodie you stole from your ex-boyfriend.

The image on the back of this hoodie is so unique! It features the tree of life with a circle of flowers and animals around it. I absolutely love the green and purple colors that pop off of the light gray material. I love this so much!

The Bottom Line

Rainbowgrove Dreams offer vegan and nature inspired clothing, accessories, home decor, and art that you can’t find anywhere else! Their new clothing line includes designs that are so cute and unique, I can’t wait to order them all (seriously, I love every single one). The quality is fantastic, and these pieces are a must-have for every vegan that wears clothes!

Head on over to their website to see their entire line! Let me know which one is your favorite!
