Whole Foods Launches Nationwide Holiday Vegan Menu!!!

If you’re a frequent Whole Foods shopper, you probably know that they offer some pretty tasty vegan options at their hot bar. If you haven’t tried their chicken fried tofu, please put that at the top of your To-Do list!

Last week, Whole Foods announced that they will be launching a new, vegan menu for the holidays! The festive dishes were created by Richard Landau and Kate Jacoby, the culinary plant-based geniuses behind the super swanky VEDGE restaurant in Philadelphia.

According to VegNews, this special holiday menu will include “mustard-glazed cauliflower, lentil-mushroom stuffing, “cheesy” rutabaga and potato mash, sauerkraut-roasted rainbow carrots, and chocolate toffee miniature cake. The vegan menu will also be available to order online from November 1 until November 6, and the promo code “VEGAN” will discount the price by $5.”

I don’t know about you, but I would love to have some unique dishes this holiday season (and not have to cook it all!).

Let me know if you try out any of these new dishes!

Product: Nourishing Beauty Balm (1 ounce/30 ml) $60.00 USD

Review: There’s nothing wrong with taking care of yourself! Being a little selfish is a great thing. Loving yourself enough to take care of your skin and wellbeing is necessary to feel confident, valued, and empowered.

I love the message behind Selfish care and am thrilled to share their Nourishing Beauty Balm with you! This balm is full of fabulous ingredients like cocoa butter, shea butter, and jojoba oil to deeply moisturize, soften, and protect the skin.

It also includes Cranberry seed oil, which is enriched with fatty acids and antioxidants to improve inflamed, aging skin. Nettle Oil improves skin’s texture, while Coffee Oil helps to regenerate skin cells.Elderflower Oil tightens and brightens while Red Clover Oil gives skin a healthy dose of Vitamin C, beta-carotene, and minerals. Last but not least, Alkanet Root Oil provides astringent and antimicrobial properties to this powerhouse balm!

Ok, so now you know what’s in it… but does it work?!

I used this balm in the AM and PM immediately after cleansing my face. This balm melts right into the skin and a little bit goes a long way! This balm provided deep (and much needed) moisture to my dry/combination skin. My face was noticeably more hydrated and it generally looked healthier and more even-toned. It also helped to calm the redness in my skin. I am happy to report that it did not cause any breakouts and has left my skin looking radiant and well cared for!

I also received a sample of Selfish Care’s soon to be launched Nourishing Beauty Oil. Just like the balm, it is packed with skin loving ingredients like Coconut Oil, Golden Jojoba Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, and other essential oils. It smells sweet and delicious, and instantly hydrates the skin while giving it a gorgeous glow!

The Bottom Line

Selfish Care’s Nourishing Beauty Balm and Beauty Oil are fantastic products. They are carefully formulated with natural ingredients to give exceptional results. Of course, they are vegan and cruelty-free! I highly recommend the Nourishing Beauty Balm to anyone that is looking to care for their skin with products that are designed to address multiple skin concerns in one easy step (aging, redness, dryness, etc.). Head on over to Selfish Care’s website to read more about this balm! Show your skin a little love!

Dr. Botanicals – Japanese Orange Fast Acting Overnight Restoring Mask Review (Vegan & Cruelty-Free)

Company: Dr. Botanicals

Screen Shot 2017-10-21 at 12.52.18 PM

Product: Japanese Orange Fast Acting Overnight Restoring Mask (1.69 ounces/50 ml)£53.00 / $69.92 USD

Review: Ok, so if you’re still here after seeing how much this product costs, you know that this is clearly a LUXURY item.

For the most part, I collaborate with small(ish) indie companies that are new or just looking for some feedback or marketing. That’s the way I like it! The more vegan and cruelty-free companies out there, the more animals will be saved from cruel animal testing procedures! (Why would anyone want to put cruelty on their face?!)

With that said, I shouldn’t discriminate against high-end brands, now should I? Vegans can take their skincare very seriously, after all!

The Japanese Orange Fast Acting Overnight Restoring Mask is described to be “an intense overnight treatment with refreshing Japanese Orange to leave the skin renewed by morning.” This skin treatment also contains shea butter for deep moisturization and rejuvenation. Seabuckthorn Fruit Oil is part of this million dollar formula to nourish the skin for a healthier and overall younger appearance. As for the rest of the ingredients, they are nowhere to be found on the company’s website or the product’s packaging.

This mask is white and the consistency is very thick. It melts right into the skin which is perfect since you’re wearing it as you sleep. The sophisticated fragrance of this mask is primarily notes of sweet oranges.

After applying a thin layer on my face the night before, I woke up to hydrated and soothed skin. I think this treatment would be great for normal to dry skin, especially during the upcoming winter months. Hydration is the key to healthy and young looking skin, so this would also be beneficial for people with aging skin.

The Bottom Line

Did this product work? Yes, it sure did!

Is it worth the price tag? Well, if you enjoy trying new skincare and have money to burn, sure I’d recommend this product! It’s high quality, vegan, cruelty-free and certainly moisturized my thirsty skin.

Will a less expensive product deliver similar results? Absolutely, but again, if you’re into luxury skincare, this mask is for you!

Thank you, Dr. Botanicals, for sending me this product to review!

California has passed The Pet Rescue and Adoption Act, which requires pet stores to exclusively sell rescue animals! Way to go, California!

This is a huge win for animals! With the amount of animal surrenders, homeless pets and euthanization rates on the rise, California has passed bill 485 which will ban the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits from puppy mills, kitten factories, and mass breeding operations.

All animals sold in pet shops must come from animal shelters, rescues, or adoption centers! This will greatly reduce the amount of animals in shelters and increase adoptions significantly! This change will take place by January 2019.

Congratulations, California! Which state will be next?

Rose Affinity Nourished Foundation and Toner Review

Company: Rose Affinity

Screen Shot 2017-10-15 at 10.50.58 AM

Products:

Nourished Foundation (0.68 ounces/20 ml.) $22.00 USD

Rose Fountain Toner (4 fluid ounces/118 ml) $16.00 USD

Reviews:

This Rose Fountain Toner smells like a bouquet of freshly cut roses! I really can’t get enough of the scent! When you spray this fine mist on your face it calms and lightly hydrates thanks to Aloe Leaf Juice and Rose Flower Water.

This toner is perfect to use after you cleanse your skin and before using a moisturizer, serum, or beauty oil. It’s also fantastic to mist over your makeup to eliminate overly powdery makeup or just to give your face a dewy finish. You get a lot of product in this bottle so it will last quite some time, not to mention that the packaging is adorable!

The Nourished Foundation is a tinted face cream that is packed with skin loving ingredients. Aloe Vera and Jojoba Oil hydrate and calm the skin along with DMAE and MSM to give you a brightening effect. This is a light coverage foundation that illuminates and enhances your skin. I use this all over my face for a healthy glow and then use concealer wherever I need it. I found this product was best applied with my fingertips, as opposed to a blending sponge or brush.

Overall, this foundation creates a your-skin-but-better look.  Usually, I’m a medium to full coverage kind of girl, but I really like how this foundation gives me an effortlessly natural look.

The Bottom Line

From the cute packaging to the natural ingredients, I truly enjoy this foundation and toner! These specific products are vegan, cruelty-free, and paraben free (YASSSSS!). I recommend these products to anyone that is looking to clean up their skincare and makeup routine. Of course, if you love roses, I think you will love this brand!

Thank you, Rose Affinity, for sending me these vegan and cruelty-free products!
