Grapefruit Mint Salts

Reviews:

This Green Tea Mint Bath Bomb has a light and minty herbal tea scent. The aroma transforms your bathroom into a 5-star spa and you’ll just want to stay in the tub all day! It leaves behind the subtlest scent of mint on your skin. Coconut oil does a great job moisturizing… I didn’t even need lotion afterward!

I was so excited to try this Cotton Candy Bath Bomb! This creates a dusty lavender hue in your bath water and leaves behind a subtle candy-like scent on your skin. Yum!

Who doesn’t love orange sherbet? The Citrus Swirl Bath Bomb smells exactly like the mouthwatering dessert and is the perfect way to energize and pamper yourself!

Welcome back the ’90’s with this Cucumber Melon Bath Bomb/foot soak! This little guy instantly transported me back to my days in 8th grade when I wore Bath and Body Works’ Cucumber Melon Body Spray just about every day! Unfortunately, I was a little too excited when I was unwrapping this and broke it apart. That didn’t affect how it worked though! My bath water was transformed into a gorgeous mint green color and the classic fruity scent made this truly a treat to use!

These aren’t just ordinary bath salts… these are Grapefruit Mint Soaking Salts! The mix of Epsom and Pink Himalayan Salts detox and release tension from tired muscles as cocoa butter and coconut oil soften your skin. The vibrant grapefruit scent makes for a deliciously refreshing bath!

The Bottom Line

These are great products from a great person (I urge you to go to her website and read her story). These products are cute as heck, smell fantastic, get the job done, and are of course, vegan and cruelty-free! What’s not to love? 10% of proceeds are also given to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society! Give Always Autumn Crafts a try and let me know how you like them!

OM BOTANICAL Conditioning Hair and Scalp Nourishment Review

Company: OM BOTANICAL

Product:  Conditioning Hair and Scalp Nourishment ($23.00 USD)

Review:

The main ingredients of this all-natural conditioner are aloe vera , pumpkin seed oil, plant glycerin, Vitamins B3 and B5, and  Peppermint oil.  After leaving this conditioner on my scalp and hair for about 1 minute, I began to feel an intense, minty cooling sensation. I absolutely loved this cold chill since it’s been so hot lately and our air conditioner is not working!

After leaving this product on for 2 minutes and thoroughly rinsing, my hair was refreshed, tangle-free, smooth and conditioned. If you’ve read a few of my reviews before, you know that I love a multifunctional product! It saves time, money, and counter/shower space! Well, this product can also be used as a styling gel! Fellow curly-haired people rejoice! You know how we love a good hair gel!

I worked the conditioner through my damp hair, from midlength to the ends (which need some major help, at the moment). I never put styling products directly on my scalp because it makes my hair flat as a pancake! This product helped my split ends look smoother and healthier and the minty fragrance lingered all day! It also helped to tame frizz and shape my curls. Hooray!

The Bottom Line

This conditioner is fantastic. It moisturizes, detangles and tames my locks while making it smell minty fresh! Its all natural, vegan, and cruelty free formula is totally worth the price, especially since it doubles as a styling gel. Even my picky boyfriend likes using it (I can’t express how BIG that is!) I would recommend this product to just about anyone looking for effective and natural hair care. Give it a try and let me know how you like it!

Thank you, OM BOTANICAL, for sending me this product to review!

Perfectly Posh Product Review

Company: Perfectly Posh

Consultant: Dene Cobb  IG: @perfectlyposhdene

Products:

Field Better Soon Chunk Bar (Sample Size)

BFF: Best Face Forever Exfoliating Face Wash (Sample Size)

Please note that not all Perfectly Posh products are vegan. All items are cruelty-free (no animal testing).

Review:

The main ingredients of the Field Better Soon Chunk Bar are sodium palmate, sodium palm kernelate, water, glycerin, and lavender oil.  This bar soap lathered up nicely in warm water and definitely left me feeling clean. While using this bar soap, the scent of lavender is strong, yet it only leaves behind the most subtle scent on your skin. My skin did not feel dry after using this and the lavender scent did actually relax me!

The BFF: Best Face Forever Exfoliating Face Wash was an awesome surprise. It has 24 ingredients, some of which I have no idea what they are, so I didn’t WANT to like it! I prefer natural, less-is-more products.

This cleanser is thick and gel-like and has the tiniest grains to exfoliate away makeup and oil (don’t use it on your eyes, use a separate remover for that). You get a cool kick from the peppermint oil, a fruity zip from the grapefruit oil, and moisture and soothing properties from aloe. My skin felt fresh, clean, and hydrated after using this, so it definitely works!

The Bottom Line

I was interested in trying some products from Perfectly Posh… I’ve seen them over and over again on Instagram and wondered if they were really worth the hype!

The packaging seems to target younger consumers. The products look fun and pretty and I think they did a great job in that department!

In all honesty, I didn’t think I was going to like these products. I’m not a huge fan of lavender or bar soap or cleansers that have more than a few ingredients. However, these products smell wonderful and truly get the job done! I’m a believer! Let me know if you’ve tried some Perfectly Posh products!

Thank you, Dene Cobb, for hooking me up with samples to review!

SmartVolume Leave-in Conditioner (59 ml / 2 fl. oz)

TotalControl Styling Creme (59 ml / 2 fl. oz)

Review:

I was beyond thrilled to get to try out this line! I LOVE when companies make trial/sample sized products so you don’t end up wasting handfuls of money on things that don’t work for you.

So, if you didn’t know, I have blonde curly hair that reaches midway down my back. It is highlighted, dry and frizzy, but it is easily straightened, curled, and controlled with products. I prefer to keep my hair natural and choose not to use heat styling very often.

The UltraShine Moisture Shampoo is “ideal for all hair types.” It gently cleanses while seaweed extract and fatty acids nourish and fortify your strands. The scent reminds me of baby shampoo and the lather most certainly washes away any build-up. The instructions recommend washing your hair twice, which I only do if my hair is particularly dirty or if I used too much product that day.

The UltraShine Moisture Conditioner has a fragrance that is similar to the UltraShine Moisture Shampoo, but it also has a baby powder-like scent. This conditioner is thick, as in it will not drip from your hand if you turn it upside down, but it is not heavy. I massaged it into my hair and let it sit for several minutes for more “intensive results.” It does a wonderful job detangling my wild curls and provides enough moisture for my thirsty locks without weighing it down.

The SmartVolume Leave-in Conditioner is to be used on clean, towel-dried hair (10 – 12 pumps from roots to ends). The scent of this spray is my favorite in the set. It is light, fruity, and floral. Rice bran guards against heat and the sun, bergamot detangles and fights flyaways, and raw lecithin strengthens strands. I really love this stuff!

The TotalControl Styling Creme is a mix of a conditioner and gel. For “smooth ringlets, apply to damp hair, use fingers to shape curls, and let air dry.” This styling creme was perfect for my hair. I want smooth, bouncy curls without heavy products weighing them down. This product fought my frizz (undoubtedly with all its might) and helped my curls keep their shape.

The Bottom Line

Everyone wants beautiful hair. To me, it is impossible to achieve “beauty” if the products you use are tested on animals or contain animal products. Animal testing is cruel, ineffective and unnecessary. I am so thankful for brands like EVOLVh that make vegan and cruely-free products that actually work! These products work together PERFECTLY, but also do well when used on their own. I can say that without a doubt, this set increased the volume and overall health of my hair. Since these products are perfect for traveling, I will be bringing the entire set along with me on my L.A. food tour in a few weeks (stay tuned for that!). This company also has products made for curly hair, which I fully intend on trying out! Give these products a try, and let me know how they work for you!

Thank you, EVOLVh, for providing me with products to review!

Yulin Dog Meat Eating Festival Has NOT Been Cancelled!

Many animal rights activism groups have recently been posting that the horrific and cruel Yulin Dog Meat Eating Festival, where thousands of dogs are brutally tortured and killed in China, has been cancelled. This is sadly not the case. Please read below for more information and get involved to help!
SOURCE/REPOST: @animalhopeandwellness

Marc Ching of The Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation met with the Yulin Government to speak about the ban on dog meat sales during the festival, and publications claiming the Yulin Dog Meat Festival is over.

In a direct statement from the Yulin Political Affairs Director and the Yulin Chief of Police – “There is no ban on dog meat sales during the festival as some animal rights groups have claimed.” Government officials made it very clear that they are not in support of the festival, but have expressed they can do little in regards to opposing what the people want.

Mr. Ching of AHWF also met with the Yulin Food and Drug Administration, which oversees dog meat sales and food quality control of meat within the city. In a direct statement from their officials to Animal Hope and Wellness – “There is no current or proposed ban on dog meat sales during the festival.” In an effort to speak with the people, Mr. Ching and Suki Su of AHWF went to the two largest dog meat markets, DongKuo Market and NanQiao Market. In conversations with over twenty dog meat vendors, no one had knowledge or was aware of any pending or proposed dog meat sales ban. Marc also met with the owner of one of the largest slaughterhouses in Yulin who claims the festival is still happening, and that “his” sales during the festival this year will reach over 2000 dogs. “Restaurants have already begun putting in orders, and trucks will start their travel to the province,” he stated in conversation with Mr. Ching.

One thing he did mention, is that usually this is a “sensitive time, but no one seems to be protesting like they have in prior years.” The message Mr. Ching of AHWF wants to communicate to the public, is that this is when your words matter most. “I feel so sad for the dogs that will die and suffer because of these mistruths. Usually there is huge intentional pressure before the coming days of the festival, but this year there is not. The only way we will see Yulin end, is by people continuing to stand up to speak for the animals.”
