Atmosphere:

Upon entering this establishment, I was instantly thrown back to my days of taking shots of tequila in my dorm room and then stumbling to class in flops and an XXXXL t-shirt.

It was the perfect day to eat outside, so we asked to sit on the roof deck. Yup. I was right. College kids! College kids equipped with sunglasses and flannel! But that’s not all, there were little hipster toddlers and somebody even had their gigantic dog. Is that even allowed?  (No, it wasn’t a service dog).

Food:

At first, I thought my eyes were playing an evil trick. I saw vegan chiken or beef Philly subs on the menu!!!  Since I’m originally from Jersey, and have had more than a few Philly cheesesteaks in my pre-vegan and pre-vegetarian days, this was music to my little herbivore ears.  They also had vegan garlic knots, BBQ chiken pizza, and a veggie pizza made with Daiya.

Holy $!&@/!!!

After about 10 minutes of fierce battles in my head over what to order, I finally decided on the chiken philly sub for $8.99 (pictured above). Best decision I’ve made in a long time! The bread… Oh my Jesus, the bread! So soft and fresh, I nearly cried! The chiken had a nice, true-to-the-real-thing texture, and had a slight hint of garlic and white wine flavor. The sautéed peppers and onions gave the sandwich the right amount of “fill” (I don’t want any half-filled, wimpy, insult to my tastebuds, sandwiches). The only thing I did to it was add a little salt and pepper, and this thing was damn near perfect, if you ask me!

DIG IT or DITCH IT?

DIG IT! This one is a vegan treasure for sure! I’ll definitely return to this place to relive my college days of drinking and eating pizza like there’s no tomorrow.  The “beef” Philly sub is next on my hit list! Go, you won’t be sorry!

That looks so good! Makes me miss my college days in America amongst all the stoners, drunkies and hippies! 😀 It also really makes me want to travel to Virginia to try this vegan gem!

Interesting because I’m from the same area you originally mentioned and its still interesting for me to see the Vegan Menus at some of the restaurants in the area, I can understand the mental struggle and battle 🙂

Cool page… I’m in jersey and would go for a “North Pole Bowl” over a sub, a hoagie, or cheesesteak any day.

It was so good! I’ve actually been back since, and tried the BBQ pizza. It was absolutely amazing! Haha, I try to avoid the places that only have soggy veggies at all cost!
